STEM Classes in Chicago’s South Loop area offer immersive hands-on science experiences, critical thinking, and creativity. Kids Science Labs hands-on classes build confidence and problem-solving skills while developing the skills necessary for long-term outperformance in kids.
Our STEM classes are available both at our beautiful learning centers and at our school partners, which are available during the academic year for kids ages 2 - 14. We offer a full range of 1-hr introductory science and 2-hr elite STEM classes that teach students how to think bigger, build better, and use their imagination to solve the world’s most interesting problems.

Our STEM classes use our award winning PowerScience program, are led by experienced professionals who love developing the curiosity and imagination in your child, and are both fun and challenging. For ELITE students seeking the most advanced program in design and innovation, joining our STEM Leadership League to participate in Destination Imagination, a global STEM competitive program.
What happens in the Best STEM Classes for Kids
Our STEM Classes are a joyful mix of discovery, creativity, and hands-on learning. All STEM Classes start with an inspired question that establishes, which leads to an instant STEM Challenge, designed to spark curiosity. Each experience involves science discovery, designing inventions that build confidence and conducting real science experiments. Similar to how professionals work, beyond technical STEM skills, we also give direct instruction in communicating ideas, presentation skills and effective collaboration. Kids from PreK up to 8th grade enjoy a dynamic environment where they can explore new ideas, ask “what if,” and engage with science in ways that are both exciting and age-appropriate.
Toddler Discovery Science (Ages 2-4)

In TDS, we are developing the way that your child thinks. The focus here is Scientific Thinking, Problem Solving, and Hands-on Discovery where your child's hands become tools for their brain as they use pipettes, magnifying glasses, and science materials to explore their curiosity
Young Investigators (Ages PreK-5th)

Think. Build. Discover. These 1-hour classes are an early scientific thinking laboratory for curious minds, where future scientists, physicians, engineers, and creators develop confident problem solving and explore real science experiments that enhance a growth mindset.
STEM Leadership League - PREP (2nd-5th)
Afterschool
2-hr weekly Advanced Science Development program that prepares committed investigators with the science challenges, tools, mental resilency, and conflict management to be able to join a competitive STEM Leadership League ELITE within the next year . This class requires minimum 3-month commitment
STEM Leadership League ELITE (3rd-8th)
Invitation Only
2-hr weekly ELITE Global Educational program that teaches students how to become creative probem solvers by working togther on long-term STEAM challenges that they present at showcases and competitions. This class requires real commitment,as students are assigned a team of up to 7 members that work collaboratively exploring sciece, engineering, invention, design, and creative thinking. Student led teams participate in Destination Imagination aka "DI TEAMS"
Future Doctors & Engineers CLUB (K-5th)
Single Event Registration
Our scholars need more hands-on science, and members who can't join weekly classes, participate in Future Doctors & Engineers Club, where they are given the opporutunity to explore advanced biology, physics, and chemistry. This includes access to the Kids Science Labs Dissection Lab, where all students will participate in monthly hands-on dissections of sharks, squid, and other interesting and available animal specimens

Each class typically costs $15 - $30/hr , including materials, and membership also provides guaranteed early access to our Day Camps, Summer Camps, and all Private Events.

Fearless problem solvers unite and join a team of 7 elite young scholars that compete in a global design competition, developing creativity, confidence, and collaborative innovation, while applying STEM concepts to solve real engineering design challenges. Great for families that want to optimize the development of growth mindset, foundational science, and enhanced communication skills, while learning in a safe, supportive environment. Our Step-By-Step Registration Process
Classes are arranged by grade level for PreK-8th grade. Some classes are invitation only and others are open-enrollment, available on a first come first serve basis until our capacity is full. As long as your child is meets eligibility, and can reasonably attend the class, the process is very straight forward and typically follows these steps:

You can choose any location that has day camp in Chicago including South Loop (1801 S. Indiana Ave), Lincoln Park and Roscoe (3324 N. Western Ave), and Northbrook (840 Willow Rd) as well as our VIP afterschool based partnerships that we host at some schools around the U.S.

Each Kids Science Labs location offers weekly classes, typically arranged by age, day, and time, with flexible options available for 1-hr or 2-hr classes. Note that ELITE level 2-hr classes require minimum commitment as they are assigned teams that work collaboratively on large scale projects during the year.

Our hands-on science classes are designed for curious kids ages 2 through 12, typically organized in age bands (Prek/K, 1st/2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th) that allow kids to learn and collaborate with peers.

Not at all! Our STEM classes are built for all experience levels, from first-time scientists to young innovators. Every child is guided through engaging experiments and activities designed to build confidence, curiosity, and STEM skills. Note that STEM Leadership League ELITE, our global competitive science teams are invitation only and students must tryout or have previously participated on one of our 2-hr developmental program (“PREP” Teams).

We offer 300+ science classes that include fun problem solving STEM challenges, balancing a healthy cross-functional exposure to the foundational principles in physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. 1-hr classes introduce students to design thinking principles that are applied every week. Our STEM Leadership League (advanced 2-hr classes) take it a step further as students join teams to work on year-long complex problems that require the development of a growth mindset. Ex. design a wheeless go-kart that can move 50 lb across a carpeted surface powered by child innovation, which requires real power tools, electronics, and presenting the solution at a parent showcase, or regional competition such as Destination Imagination.

You can enroll through our Zen Planner online system, call our Customer Engagement Team, or select your day preference via the registration request form above and we’ll complete the registration for you. Some classes are only available seasonally and/or by invitation so be sure to join our mailing list so you are notified of new classes.

For 15+ years, Kids Science Labs has offered hands-on science classes for students as young as 2-yrs old. Toddler Discovery Science is a science enrichment program offered to kids 24mo -48 month in a creative environment where they put on lab coats, explore basic principles such as magnification, introductory chemistry, and do weekly experiments. Toddler Discovery Science allows students a safe environment where they can ask questions, make mistakes, and develop the observations, critical thinking, and bold questions that prepare them for the future. Our 1-hr STEM Classes and 2-hr STEM Leadership League both have two choices, where memberships range from $15 - $30/hr, depending whether you register using a flexible monthly membership or join our full-year development program that competes in Destination Imagination.
Parents are offered STEM Basic (1-hr science classes that range from $119 - $175/mo) or STEM ELITE (2-hr classes that range from $1,095 - $1,750 for a 30-week academic session that includes a professional coach and team assignment)
