Our Curriculum: Inquiry-Based, Hands-On Science Education for Kids

At Kids Science Labs, we believe that wondering why can change the world. Our hands-on science curriculum is built to unlock curiosity, nurture creativity, and empower kids ages 2 to 12 to become fearless problem solvers.

From toddler discovery to middle school design labs, every class begins with a real question kids are already asking — and ends in discovery through active, tactile learning.

“Why does my cereal get soggy?”
“Why can’t we take an airplane to the Moon?”
“Why does my heart beat faster when I run?”

These are the kinds of questions that inspire our curriculum every single day.

Why Our Hands-On Science Programs Are Different

  • 100% Original Content

    created by educators and scientists

  • 400+ unique hands-on classes

across camps, parties, labs, and school programs

  • Inquiry-based learning

that starts with a child’s question

  • Year-round programs

in Seattle, Chicago, and select national schools

  • 12+ years of proven academic results

    and student engagement

Kids learn best when they’re moving, building, breaking, rebuilding, and asking why. That’s why we teach through exploration — not lectures.

How We Teach: From Question to Discovery

Every KSL class is structured around three core learning phases:

  1. Ask A Question – Use real-world questions that spark curiosity.

  2. Explore – Explore real experiments that offer kids insights into science fundamentals.

  3. Discover & Design – Discover how things work and design solutions that use a child’s creativity and problem solving.

This is how we teach children to become creative, confident problem solvers — the kinds of thinkers every field needs.

Three Foundations of our NGSS-based Curriculum

These are the type of questions that inspire our PowerScience curriculum everyday.

Best of all, PowerScience is complimentary to NGSS-aligned Amplify Science, STEMscopes, FOSS, and Mystery Science with award winning hands-on science experiments without licensing fees.
